Danish band When Saints Go Machine released their debut album Ten Makes a Face back in 2008. However, it would be their second LP Konkylie that would really blast them into the faces of the masses, even garnishing them position on the Danish charts. Fast forward to 2025 and the group is set to release their seventh album Greatest Escape on October 24th. To kick things off, When Saints Go Machine have unveiled the lead single titled ‘Ice Rink’.
Beautifully crafted, ‘Ice Rink’ is a mid-tempo sliding that musically delves into alt-pop with it’s surreal aesthetics and Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild’s signature falsetto vocals. The thundering funk meets post-punk bassline serves as the heartbeat of the track, giving it a glorious rumble. With 15 years in the game, When Saints Go Machine haven’t lost a beat.
About ‘Ice Rink’, Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild mentioned:
“There’s something magical about experiencing something for the first time. A kind of naivety we want to celebrate. It’s a fight for imagination. To keep it untouched and preserve the force it needs to develop. These are the moments we immortalize when hands create together. It’s an escape from the calculated. A charge forward. A spirit defending itself.”
