Valentina Unveils Her New Single ‘You Know Where My Happiness Went’

London-based artist Valentina contributed vocals to the Kano and track ‘Got My Brandy, Got My Beats’, taken from his 2019 Hoodies All Summer LP, not to mention sang and wrote on Joe Goddard’s 2012 cut ‘Gabriel’. Now back working on her solo material, the Italian-born singer has unveiled her latest tune ‘You Know Where My Happiness Went’. The experimental electronic meets dark pop record features Valentina delivering ghostly vocals over lo-fi, moody and minimalist instrumentation. Self-produced, the track sets off what may be more to come from her in 2020.

Touching on the track, Valentina said:

“I wrote this song after a 5 year relationship had just ended and I was looking for a place to live, staying on friends sofas. With no microphone, the whole vocal was recorded into my laptop in my friends living room in one take as I wrote it. I didn’t change it as I liked that it captured that precise moment in time. In a lot of ways the song is about loss, loss of love, of identity and learning to be alone, getting to know and like yourself. I realised I’d spent too long expecting my happiness to come from someone else’s idea of me.”
