Top Pick: Sweeping Promises ‘Pain Without a Touch’

Kicking off their musical career in Boston with an insanely infectious sound of post-punk and new wave is Sweeping Promises. The group released their amazing LP Hunger for a Way Out back in 2020 and is now ready to round out 2021 with a new label deal with Sub Pop, as well as a freshly released single entitled ‘Pain Without a Touch’.

Remaining true to their roots, ‘Pain Without a Touch’ is a free-spirited handing of whirling post-punk with a slightly brighter feel than their previous record. That’s not to say that their DIY approach to recording has been lost in the ether, rather polished a bit more to compliment the core sonics, and it sounds absolutely incredible. Built on slinky guitar riffs, a thundering bass line and racing drumming, the track is topped with uber catchy vocal melodies that feel way too good.

Hopefully Sweeping Promises will release a second album in 2022, but for now, you can stream ‘Pain Without a Touch’ below.
