Stream Public Body’s Brilliant Post-Punk Cut ‘Hard To Concentrate’

We’re not sure what’s in the water in Brighton but the quality of bands coming out of the city is incredible. Public Body is another export delivering catchy indie and post-punk rhythms that hark back to their 2019 cut ‘Talking Show’.

With their forthcoming EP Flavour Of Labour landing March 3rd, Public Body have unveiled their new single ‘Hard To Concentrate’. Fusing cool-out indie with cutting post-punk edges, the tune’s fuzzy, running guitar lines sit underneath Seb Gilmore’s almost spoken word style reportage of mundane office life. A topic that oh so many people can relate too, ‘Hard To Concentrate’ is a brilliant offering from a band who has already laid down a solid foundation of post-punk goodness.

Touching on the track, singer/guitarist Seb Gilmore said:

“This song was written back when I was in my old job which was in an open plan office. The canteen was on the top floor and also had a balcony that I’d sit on to eat lunch. I’d always end up eating too much – I’m an emotional eater – and then subsequently suffer a carb crash while sitting at the computer doing the most repetitive job, trying to not fall asleep. I miss it to be honest, the balcony, not the job. This is actually one of the first songs I ever wrote but it ended up changing a bit once Theo and Tom joined the band and added some guitar and synth lines which gave it a new lease of life, so we decided to record it for this release.”
