With their upcoming album 'SELF MADE MAN' dropping June 12th on Trick-Woo Records, rock & roll sisters Larkin Poe pay homage to their Georgia roots in their new single 'Back Down South' featuring Tyler Bryant. Musically the instrumentation is composed of twangy guitar lines, gospel style organ play and echoing claps, drawing influence from a blues rock blueprint.
Whenever Killer Mike and El-P aka Run The Jewels drop anything it's always a good day. Having previously shared the track 'Ooh LA LA' featuring Nice & Smooth's Greg Nice and Hip-Hop production king DJ Premiere, RTJ have now dropped the official video. The visuals are legendary in themselves considering that not only is this one big street party what appears to be a celebration of the ending of capitalism, but you can also catch a cameo by the one and only Zack De La Rocha. Factor in Greg Nice and Preemo also appearing in the video as well as a whole heap of people dancing, this is possibly what it may look like when the coronavirus lock down is finally over! 'Ooh LA LA' is directed by Brian and Vanessa Beletic, with El-P being the co-creative.
Philly producer Marshmello and Atlanta's trap king Southside come together for the song and video 'Been Thru This Before'. If the collab wasn't enough, they also enlisted the landlord himself, London rapper Giggs and Brooklyn's SAINt JHN to add their vocal touches to the bass-shaking tune. The video is directed by Myles Whittingham and features SAINt JHN and Giggs outside a cabin in the woods whilst surrounded by beautiful women. There is a scene where some of the women are stirring some weird green concoction, perhaps some elixir of sorts. Never the less you can peep the vid down at the bottom.
Musical siblings Rebecca and Megan Lovell aka Larkin Poe has dropped their latest single 'Holy Ghost Fire'. The song is taken from their forthcoming LP 'SELF MADE MAN', which lands June 12th. A fiery dose of blues rock, the tune rumbles with lashing guitar riffs and gospel style front and back vocals that jump with attitude and pure kick.
Our fave Hip-Hop duo Run The Jewels have not only shared a new track to help you get through these crazy times but they have actually unveiled two songs. The first cut titled 'Yankee And The Brave (ep.4)' finds the NYC/ATL pair dropping the hardest bars over the chest-punching production in wonderful RTJ fashion. The second song 'Ooh LA LA' features Hip-Hop legend DJ Premiere and the vocals of Greg Nice saying his infamous line "Ooh la la, ah oui oui", which many fans may remember from his feature on Gangstarr's 'DWYCK'. Killer Mike and El P again go lyrically in beast mode over a twisted piano loop.
In the midst of basically a world shutdown, Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has been ever so kind to shed a little ray of light by sharing a new album simply titled '3.15.20'. The LP features Ariana Grande and 21 Savage. Whilst previously teasing fans with a countdown via his website, the new album contains titles that are nothing more than time markers. There are however two actual track names, 'Algorhythm' and 'Time' which do appear in the list.
Danny Brown joins forces with Run The Jewels for the song and video '3 Tearz'. Directed by Colin Read and filmed in a warehouse in Brooklyn, the visuals feature the three emcees taking back on some raw Hip-Hop vibe, simply spraying bars on a mic in a circle of people who are holding up video cameras and smoking weed!
