Odd Beholder Releases Her New Single ‘Disaster Movies’

Odd Beholder, the moniker of Swiss artist and activist Daniela Weinmann, has released a new single titled ‘Disaster Movies’, taken from her forthcoming album Sunny Bay, the follow-up to her 2018 LP All Reality Is Virtual.

‘Disaster Movies’ is the addressing of the ongoing environmental crisis perpetuated by the carelessness of man. The content of the track revolves around two character’s initial lackluster perception of their hometown only to witness it surccumb to a natural disaster which leaves the city in ruins. Musically the single is built on bouncy and glistening synth-pop production that creates a balance between a grooving listening experience and the needed message of awareness.

Regarding the single, Daniela Weinmann stated:

“Two protagonists recall their teenage nonchalance, how they used to wish the whole damn town would burn down. They are now standing on the site of an actual catastrophe. Now that a monstrous flood has swallowed the entire town they don’t feel an inch of glee. Disappointed in their own premature disillusion, they feel like they have entered one of the disaster movies that they used to watch. What they quickly realise is that it doesn’t feel heroic at all. Instead everything seems dull and impractical, and terribly frightening.”

Daniela Weinmann has also released a video to coincide with the single. Directed by Weinmann herself with the production by PARRAFILM, the storyline is based on the main character who has awaken from a form of life support only to find herself in an unfamiliar world. The abnormality of the seemingly normal environment becomes apparent rather quickly as time progresses.
