Having released his Foundations EP back in October of this year, UK garage legend MJ Cole is prepping for the second EP in the series titled Waking Up, scheduled to land in 2019. To coincide with the news, Cole has shared the title track, which is also the leading single taken from the upcoming record. Enlisting singer Freya to provide gorgeous vocals on the song, production wise, the cut is rich with depth, emotionally charged as tender piano play is the foundation before an epic build-up in the tune. Another stellar offering, MJ Cole yet again proves why he is indeed a master of his craft.

Touching on the single and working with Freya, MJ Cole mentioned:

“Freya is one in a million. She has a unique presence and aura which both come through in her music. We wrote Waking Up in a single session, Freya delivering just two vocal takes as complete performances – no punching in or fixing. We set out to build the track with the waking up idea in mind – starting off with a haunting piano figure and then crescendoing towards the peak at the end of the second chorus. We’re both beyond excited to release this to the world.”
