Tricky Makes His Return with ‘Out of Place’

When you look at Tricky’s career in totality, his mountainous accomplishments and influence is undeniable. Aside from helping to pioneer an entire genre (although the term trip-hop he never agreed with), with his 1995 debut album Maxinquaye being one of the most impactful releases in music, he was featured in the iconic 1997 film ‘The Fifth Element’, and has even shared the stage with Beyoncé. With all that being said, Tricky was always reluctant to the idea of being a ‘superstar’, opting to let passion drive him first and foremost with creating music. The Bristol-born artist moved to multiple cities and countries throughout a thirty year period including New York, L.A., Paris, Berlin, and now Toulouse. Continuing to record and collaborate with various musicians and singers throughout the 2000s period whilst remaining low key to a degree, Tricky is now scheduled to release a new album entitled Different When It’s Silent, on July 17th via his False Idols imprint. To coincide with the news, he has also unveiled his new single called ‘Out of Place’.

‘Out of Place’ finds Tricky doing what he does best, blending genres into a sound that is unmistakably his. With frequent collaborator Marta Złakowska lending vocals to the song, musically the track infuses experimental electronica and punk, fostering a sinister and moody atmosphere that long time fans who continually loved from Tricky.

Along with the track, Tricky has also shared accompanying visuals, which you can check out below.
