ColoRising Mixes 38: Cream with a K

Cream with a K is the moniker of singer, visual artist and multi-instrumentalist Lee Tatlock. Born in England, at the age of 18 she made a bold journey to Tokyo, eventually fronting the J Pop band NEKO PUNCH. The group went on to release music via Universal Japan. Performing with NEKO Punch for five years, in 2016 Tatlock decided to shift directions in sound, with the emphasis being on grunge pop.

Whilst France-born, L.A.-based artist Death Hags may not have a large discography, she did drop some really ear-pleasing cuts harking back to last year. One in particular is the breezy desert indie track 'Le Temps De L’amour'. Her latest tune is the more beats-driven cut entitled 'Oublie Moi'. A lo-fi, trip-hop / indie meeting, Death Hags delivers more french lyrics with utterly seductive vocals, whilst the production itself is reminiscent of acts like Tricky.

The Desert Share Their Moody Track ‘Gone’

Making their debut last year with the EP 'Playing Dead', Bristol band The Desert are prepping for the release of their sophomore EP coming early next year. Giving fans and critics a taste of what's to come, the group have shared their new single 'Gone'. Moody with a hauntingly cinematic feel, their is an air of melancholy swirling around the production as singer Gina Leonard's smokey vocals help to create a chilling yet beautiful experience.

Having been on the scene for the past couple of years releasing her 'Short Stories' volumes, Berlin-based Bonnie Li makes her return with a new offering titled 'Mallory'. Slightly darker than her past work, the song rumbles with deep, weighty bass accompanied by sharp, stretched synths. Grasping elements of trip-hop, 'Mallory is currently out now via Icons Creating Evil Art.

With their tenth album 'The False Foundation' forthcoming later this year, London band Archive return with their new single entitled 'Bright Lights'. Hauntingly beautiful, the song is driven by moody minimalism as gorgeous piano play and moving strings dance around the open palette, allowing for the vocals to gracefully float.
