Courtney Barnett has unveiled a new cover version of Chasity Belt's track 'Different Now', which was originally featured on CB's 2017 LP 'I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone'. Courtney Barnett's rendition is taken from a split 7" with Kurt Vile who covers Chasity Belt's song 'This Time of Night'.
Courtney Barnett drops the video to her single 'Everybody Here Hates You'. Directed by Danny Cohen, the visuals feature Courtney and the band jamming out on a stage initially before transitioning into a setting that appears to be the inside of a brain. Eventually the band finds the walls of the slowly caving in on them.
Courtney Barnett is a modern marvel when it comes to storytelling. Her charismatic 2015 debut LP 'Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit' was a genius record packaged with organic indie rock sounds and creative, often quirky songwriting that resulted in the album being one of the best that year. She followed up with the 2017 collaborative LP 'Lotta Sea Lice' with Kurt Vile.
Celebrating the art of creativity, labels Milk! Records and Bedroom Suck have come together for the release of 'Split Singles Club', a collection of 7" singles featuring 12 Australian artists. One of those would be Melbourne singer Courtney Barnett, whose song 'How To Boil An Egg' is a catchy and dreamy soundtrack to hard luck. Whilst the content may be a bit melancholic, the indie folk tune is truly a pleasurable work from one of music's modern marvels. Have a listen.
