Listen to Courtney Barnett’s New Album ‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’

Courtney Barnett is a modern marvel when it comes to storytelling. Her charismatic 2015 debut LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit was a genius record packaged with organic indie rock sounds and creative, often quirky songwriting that resulted in the album being one of the best that year. She followed up with the 2017 collaborative LP Lotta Sea Lice with Kurt Vile.

Barnett now returns with her anticipated album Tell Me How You Really Feel. Containing 10 songs in total, the Australian singer and guitarist has the battery fully charged, delivering a wave of electric indie rock, indie folk and at times post-punk. A bit less playful and more direct in terms of songwriting as compared to her debut, the album is still peppered with Barnett’s underlying spirit with the instrumentation weaving between sometimes raw and sometimes polished and pristine. The one thing that is apparent is her controlled direction in which this LP is presented. Strangely that is a part of the charm. Tell Me How You Really Feel is currently out now on Milk! Records / Mom + Pop. You can stream the album below.
