Montreal artist Mirabelle is the moniker of Laurence Hélie, who made released her self-titled debut album back in 2010. With her new LP Late Bloomer landing May 29th via Simone Records, Mirabelle has shared her new single titled ‘Betty’. The tune is a husky blend of dose of haunting alt-pop and trip-hop consisting of sinister synth lines over thundering drum thumps. There is a point in the track where the instrumentation shifts into beautiful piano-led breakdowns before once again stomping with might.

Regarding the track, Mirabelle mentioned:

“As much as I would love to be Veronica / I’ll always be Betty. Sure we can fool anybody / but we can’t fool ourselves.” This isn’t a concession, it’s a celebration. It moves with purpose and abandon. It lifts.

I’ve always been super impressed with strong, confident, bold, woman musicians. I guess there’s a little bit of that in my wanting to make music. To be out there, fearless, like them.”
