Stream Jehnny Beth’s New Album ‘You Heartbreaker, You’

It’s been 5 years since French singer/actress Jehnny Beth released her debut solo album To Love Is to Live. It was almost a rediscovery since parting ways with her band Savages. The LP found her, along with producer, musician, and partner Johnny Hostile, experimenting with a variety of sounds ranging from electronica to dark post-punk. Back with her second album You Heartbreaker, You, Jehnny Beth is pushing boundaries even more.

Comprised of 9 tracks, You Heartbreaker, You incorporates heavy elements of noise rock, industrial, digital hardcore, punk, and more. Constructed with Johnny Hostile, many songs are explosive and in your face with literally only one reserved moment, which sits at the end of the record, and even that has a darkness to it. According to Jehnny Beth, You Heartbreaker, You is “a record for the sad and horny”, but sonically its brutalism and urgency on some of the tracks surely reflect the current times that we’re living in. If To Love Is to Live was the body blow, this latest work is the knock-out punch.
