Legendary afro-pop singer and songwriter Salif Keita will perform at the Apollo Theater in New York City on April 9, 2011. Born in Mali, Salif Keita created a buzz with his band Les Ambassadeurs. After relocating to Paris, France in 1984, Keita’s sound began reaching a larger audience, eventually spreading worldwide. Keita’s 1987 album “Soro” catapulted the Malian musician into international stardom. Merging traditional West African styles with influences of Europe and the Americas, Salif Keita is considered to be one of Africa’s brightest stars.
