Legendary poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron released his album “I’m New Year” in 2010 after practically not recording for over fifteen years. This return, while demonstrating the brilliance of the New York poet by way of Jackson, Tennessee and Chicago by birth, also showcased an aged writer who had clearly went down life’s rocky road. The album received raving reviews and Gil Scott-Heron’s name was yet again revived. In early 2011, producer Jamie xx remixed “I’m New Here” which, the outcome was an album called “We’re New Here”, a retake and collaboration between the two. A video for the duo’s latest single “I’ll Take Care Of You” was also recently released as it literally a mini documentary about a female boxer keeping focused while still maintaining life as a mother. The music video is directed by JJ Medina and AG Rojas.
