Having previously shared her track ‘Beyond Borders’ which featured Diggs Duke’, NYC-based singer Ruth Koleva returns with another single called ‘Kiss My Attitude’.
For this offering, Koleva delivers a silky R&B handing laced with pop sprinkles. With the content dedicated to loving one’s self with empowering lines like “you’ve got to keep your head up” sung in verses, the musicality of the cut embodies a 90’s feel whilst still feeling modern for today’s times with it’s tropical flair.
Ruth Koleva has also shared an accompanying Joro Manov-directed video to the ‘Kiss My Attitude’ which you can watch below.
Regarding the track, Ruth Koleva said:
“The song is dedicated to self-love and confidence. I personally grew up in an environment where I wasn’t accepted and people were constantly telling me HOW and WHAT to do. I was different and I knew I didn’t quite belong there. When I was 19 and moved to Amsterdam I thought I am moving to a place where tolerance and acceptance are part of the culture. Little did I know that in 2 years time I would experience something that took me years to comprehend, which I now know is called ‘geographical discrimination’. When people would ask me where I’m from they didn’t assume I come from Eastern Europe, because I don’t have an accent in English, so whenever I said “Bulgaria” people would make this grossed out face and feel repulsed. I ended up having to defend my heritage on a daily basis and felt more lonelier and isolated than ever before. Kiss My Attitude is an anthem of freedom and being your true self. You should never feel ashamed or have to apologise for being who you are or where you’re coming from.”
