For their 2013 album “Tales Of Us”, Goldfrapp drastically scaled back their sound, replacing much of the electronic production that became a hallmark in past albums, with moody folk style rhythms. While indeed displaying a level of maturity as artists, to truly appreciate its beauty meant to also disregard any comparison with their previous work – which had many dance floor driven elements.
Goldfrapp’s latest single “Thea” will somewhat satisfy old fans, as the package includes new reworks by Twin Shadow, Blood Diamond, Red Top and WAWA. The Twin Shadow house remix, while undeniably grooving, reiterates the brilliance of Allison Goldfrapp’s vocals over something a little more upbeat.
Goldfrapp’s “Thea” is out March 24th.
