Yorkshire-bred producer and New Mastersound bassist Pete Shand expands his musical palette with a reggae-tinged collaboration project called Shandy, Will & Grruff. “Island Time”, the name of the latest Shandy, Will & Grruff album is an organic and warm mesh of dub, jump-up ragga, lovers rock and jam-soul topped with a British punch, all inspired by Shand’s Jamaican heritage and the Balearic Island of Menorca, where he currently resides. Finely executed, the LP is an ear-pleasing effort that doesn’t overly exhaust the listener nor provoke boredom. It’s the perfect balance of reggae sounds and sun-filled vibrations for the summer.
