Murdo Mitchell’s ‘Glass is Half Empty’ is Lifting

Glasgow-raised, now London-based singer/musician Murdo Mitchell has shared his latest single ‘Glass is Half Empty’. Produced along with Chris Bond, the song follows Mitchell’s previous track release ‘June In July’ which landed back in 2023.

A springing piece of indie folk, ‘Glass is Half Empty’ launches with tender guitar play before building up to a warming, charming, and riveting piece. Murdo Mitchell sings of the ups and downs of living in the city of London, something that many can surely relate to. Whilst some of the lyrics can be melancholic, there is also quite a positive and hopeful air to the track, which all in all is a fantastic offering from the Scottish talent. You can stream ‘Glass is Half Empty’ down at the bottom.

Touching on the track, Murdo Mitchell said:

“Living in London can be fast paced and you can get caught up in feeling you’re doing a lot while doing nothing. You’re constantly out meeting people for drinks etc and you spend a lot of time communicating with others in bars and social situations, which is partly the beauty of London and why I love it so much. But it’s a song for myself. And it’s dedicated to all those who I meet at the bar & chat to after I play the gigs. Sometimes the higher you’re getting the lower you’re going, but I’ll meet you there nonetheless.”
