Regarding the song, HUME said:

“It’s an address to a girl I was with, an analysis of the uncomfortable moment I was in when she decided to suddenly end it. As we were both coming down lying in bed, I was seeing this bond I thought we shared completely fall apart – it was just really out of touch all of a sudden.”
