Hilary Woods Shares Her Haunting Track ‘Burial Rites’

Hilary Woods is gearing up for the release of her new album Acts of Light, landing November 3rd on Sacred Bones. Sharing her single ‘Where The Bough Has Broken’ this past September, Woods now unveils her latest cut ‘Burial Rites’.

‘Burial Rites’ is an extremely haunting instrumental piece that launches with this feeling of claustopobia. Eerie strings soon follow as the air of minimalism helps to create a specific chill. With that being said, there is also a beauty to the track which flows in the similar idea of the possibilities of a funeral being a sad moment or a lifting celebration.

Hilary Woods has also shared a video to coincide with the single, which you can stream below.

Regarding the video, Hilary Woods said:

“The video is comprised of 16mm and 8mm hand processed film together with archive footage and still photographs that convey private and collective rituals as acts of light to accompany ‘Burial Rites’, a droning lament inspired by the keening tradition.”
