Freeze began putting on parties in 2005, but the real shift in the focus of what the events company would become happened in 2009. It was September of that year when they first took to the Williamson Tunnels, a labyrinth of bored pathways and underground caverns under the edge of Liverpool City centre, to put Buzzin Fly impresario Ben Watt on in the famed ‘rave in the cave’ surroundings. It started a run of form that took Freeze’s fascination with the historic splendour of their home city to St Georges Hall, Liverpool Cathedral and many more.

Whilst the story moved on, there remained a special place in the heart for the otherworldly intimacy the tunnels provided, a sentiment shared by Danny Howells who placed the venue above both the Cathedral and St Georges Hall as his favourite Freeze gig. When the opportunity to put on another Dig Deeper party with Danny at the helm it seemed only right that the Tunnels would be the right place to do it. Saturday 5th October sees Freeze do just that.

Danny will be playing one of his illustrious across the board Dig Deeper sets for the evening, but alongside him will be another lynchpin of the Freeze story, Hernan Cattaneo. Having played with Danny at both the Cathedral and St Georges Hall, this will be the first time Hernan has played inside the Tunnels. To celebrate Freeze’s one off homecoming both DJs will be playing four hour sets, given the chance to fully explore their aural arsenal, and at a point where Freeze has spread its musical wings to incorporate the likes of Cadenza, Innervisions and Kompakt, a chance to return to the original musical thrust of what the parties were about.

On the other two occasions Hernan and Danny have played for Freeze it has sold out each time, with respective capacities of 650 and 900. The Tunnels has only space for 300 lucky ravers, making this return to the roots of Freeze an even more special showcase for those involved. As ever Freeze’s much loved resident Jemmy will kick off proceedings.
