Check Out Dear Reader’s Cinematic Single ‘Then Not Now’

South African art pop songstress Cherilyn MacNeil aka Dear Reader has shared a lyric video for her new single ‘Then Not Now’, which is taken from her new album Day Fever, landing February 24th via the City Slang imprint. Filmed in Berlin with Annie Boman, the projection of lyrics coincide with the cinematic production teetering between pop and electronica, each glazed with post-classical tastings. The rawness of the track reflects the recording process of MacNeil’s new album, recording each track to tape rather than the previous digital process.

Touching on the lyric video for ‘Then Not Now’, Dear Reader wrote:

“I love the fact that we made an ‘analog’ lyric video to pair with music that was recorded all on tape. The song is about how I have changed since I moved north, almost seven years ago, and the juxtaposition of light and darkness, naivety and cynicism (or realism, depending which way you go). So I feel like it is really fitting that the video portrays my new neighbourhood under the cover of snow and night.”
