Whilst you will hardly find a 22-piece jazz band entering the house and techno space, Cork collective BoolaBoom is filling the void. The group have stepped forth with their latest single ‘Too Much’, which is out now on Some Operation Records.
‘Too Much’ is a lively and festive big rave cut that is built on 4×4 drums, crunching synths, and blazing horns that bring a marching band feel to the track. On paper, this hybrid would seem like a no go, however, BoolaBoom’s brilliance is the combining of sounds that all work cohesively, resulting in one highly spirited and feel good song. Check it out.
Touching on ‘Too Much’, Darragh O’Connor mentioned:
“‘Too Much’ explores the bounds of temptation and excess. How much of something is really enough? Do we really believe ourselves when we say we’ll stop before we cross a dangerous line or can we keep it going for a while longer without any consequences?
We might know we are nearing a point-of-no-return but we can convince ourselves that instead of crossing the line that we thought was fixed, we can move it, so there is room for more.”
