Odd Beholder, the moniker of Swiss artist Daniela Weinmann, has announced the release of her upcoming album Honest Work. What is described as a conceptual LP that revolves around the workforce, parenting and more, the forthcoming project follows Weinmann’s LP ‘Feel Better’, which was released back in 2023. Along with the news, Odd Beholder has also shared her new single ‘Like A Chore’.

Whilst slightly melancholic in feel, the production of ‘Like A Chore’ is hauntingly beautiful with Daniela Weinmann singing of someone who has to leave her child in order to go to work despite the constant grueling grind. The song is something that is relatable to most people who have children and have to spend a large portion of their time working to keep roofs over their heads. Incredibly touching, ‘Like A Chore’ is an emotional ride that pulls at the heart strings.

Touching on the single, Daniela Weinmann mentioned:

“The idea for ‘Like A Chore’ came to me when I was still working as a teacher to finance my music. I saw a young mother standing in the staff room after only three months of statutory maternity leave in Switzerland. Visibly exhausted, she pumped breast milk in a bare back room and put it in the fridge. Despite the strain of giving birth, she had to do the same demanding job we all did. I would have liked her to spend more time with her baby. I dedicate this song to her and everyone in the same situation.”
