Guilty Pleasures Masked Summer Ball

Guilty Pleasures is glittering up this month, as it prepares to host its spectacular Masked Summer Ball at majestic venue The Bloomsbury Ballroom.
On Saturday July 28th, the Guilty Pleasures: Masked Summer Ball comes to The Bloomsbury Ballroom, one of London’s most opulent spaces. Expect all the usual Guilty Pleasures pop mayhem and fun and games, with an elegant twist – and glam up in your finest for what will be the most luxurious pop-loving event of the summer.

Set within newly reopened sumptuous venue The Bloomsbury Ballroom, this very special edition of Guilty Pleasures takes the lavish concept of a masquerade ball and combines it with pop indulgence and outrageous performances, to create a night of provocative intrigue, singing, dancing and all-out boundless fun! Exhibit your wildest dance moves and sing your heart out as you depart into the world of Guilty Pleasures – wear that mask and dance like nobody’s watching!

Whether you go for 16th century Venetian mystery, the playful seductiveness of a Parisian cabaret mask, or a superhero mask that hides your everyday identity, The Guilty Pleasures: Masked Summer Ball is the time to go for it! Combine elaborate masks and disguises with smart suits, dainty dresses, flirty furs, glamorous gowns, dramatic capes and outrageous accessories and you will begin to imagine what this event is all about. As always, fancy dress is encouraged but it IS optional – it’s the Guilty Pleasures way to ensure everyone has the time of their lives!

Guilty Pleasures don Sean Rowley takes to the decks with endless exuberance, while Anna Greenwood sparkles and smiles as she bounds across the stage, singing and dancing and managing to DJ all at once, playing the greatest musical smashers from the pop and party spectrum – Buggles to Beyonce, Wild Cherry to Katy Perry, Whitney to Winehouse.

Performers bring song, dance, comedy, cabaret, and slapstick routines. Hot Gusset, a trio of comedic acrobatic dancers wow with a side-splitting show, while gorgeous all-girl dance troupe Sparklemotion joins the fun with synchronised routines reminiscent of the girl bands of yore. Dancing queens the DiscoB*tches bring their brand of slapstick and dance moves, while Father Oates and His Confessional Booth offers penance in the form of a shot of Holy Vodka!

If you fancy being in the spotlight, head to room 2 for Power Ballads R Us, where you can sing your heart out to Phil Collins, Take That, Toto, Foreigner, Cher and more… Do. Not. Miss!
Guilty Pleasures was first established in 2004 as a concept on Sean Rowley’s BBC London radio show. Rowley – the 2012 silver medal winner of the Sony Music Broadcaster of the Year award – lives and breathes pop music in all its forms and his passion translates clearly through his work.
The Masked Summer Ball will be an eccentric, glittering, all-out sensory overload of an event, in a total celebration of all things POP. Take time out from the mundane and let your hair down as you enter into the realm of Guilty Pleasures in disguise! Leave your inhibitions at the door and indulge in your Guilty Pleasures!
