It’s been four years since Edinburgh group Young Fathers released their critically acclaimed third album Cocoa Sugar. Whilst the record was their highest charting LP, Young Fathers went extremely quiet afterwards. Well now the trio have made their return with a new track titled ‘Geronimo’.
‘Geronimo’ continues Young Fathers’ experimentation with sounds that blur any lines of genre. The song feels like the sole aim was to simply make a good track without any restraints or motives, but for the purity of the art. There are gorgeous melodies in the single, with the vocal deliveries a bit more toned down then their previous work. It wouldn’t be farfetched to assume ‘Geronimo’ will get placement in films or adverts due to it’s accessible nature without any compromise to the integrity of the trio’s creative process. Nevertheless, the track is an incredible release and finds Young Fathers back on their A game.
