Australia-based artist Wafia has been blazing the music scene for the past couple years harking back to her song ‘Let Me Love You’. Returning with her latest single ‘Bodies’, The Netherlands-born singer has shined a spotlight on the difficulties faced by Syrian refugees when simply trying to find safety in a foreign country. Inspired by her own family’s denial into Australia, ‘Bodies’ couldn’t be more relevant to these turbulent times.
Regarding ‘Bodies’, Wafia stated:
“I wanted to draw similarities between the large groups of Syrian refugees walking miles to safety and those that can protest freely in the western world. I can’t think of anything more human and simple than reminding ourselves that we are fragile bodies but the strength that can come of bodies in large numbers. We live in a world where so many things are difficult and divisive but I wanted this song to be accessible and inclusive because at the end of the day we all want to be a part of something bigger than us and this is the best way I knew how to portray that.”
