Top Boy, a four part series that focuses on the personal lives of young individuals involved in crime as way of escaping their current situation, will air Oct. 31, 2011 on Channel 4. Ashley Walters (Small Island, Bullet Boy) and Kierston Wareing (It’s A Free World, Rise of the Footsoldier) will star in this exciting new drama along with music stars Kane Robinson, known to many as Kano as well as Scorcher. Written by Ronan Bennett and produced by Cowboy Films (The Last King of Scotland), the story puts a spotlight on 26 year old Dushane (Ashley Walters) who along with friend Sully (Kane Robinson), begins a quest to be the top drug dealer in the Summerhouse Estate. Dushane, who feels he has no other way out looks at drug dealing as the only thing that he can do to make something of himself. Characters also includes 13 year old Ra’Nell, played by Malcolm Kamulete, who battles the struggle of providing for a mentally ill mother, Ra’Nell’s best friend Gem (Giacomo Mancini), who desperately wants to be a part of Dushane’s crew and Heather (Kierston Wareing) who is pregnant yet envisions creating a better enviornment for her child other than the one that she is currently engulfed in.
