Tinchy Stryder’s place in UK music is an interesting one. The East London emcee came up during the early stages of UK grime along with one of the most influential crews, Ruff Sqwad. After releasing his 2007 LP ‘Star In The Hood’, Tinchy Stryder began ascending into the realms of success, with his 2009 album ‘Catch 22’ skyrocketing him into sheer stardom. After dropping his 2010 LP ‘Third Strike’, he pumped out a few singles such as ‘Bright Lights’ ft. Pixie Lott and ‘Help Me’. However, although releasing bits and bobs here and there, Tinchy was relatively quiet.
Now with his new album ‘360º / The Cloud 9 LP’ scheduled for release in April, Tinchy Stryder shares his new video ‘Allow Me’ featuring Boy Better Know’s JME. Directed by Dman and Capes and shot in Croydon, the vid also features a guest appearance by Davinche, who also produced the track.
In a press statement regarding the ‘Allow Me’, Tinchy Stryder wrote:
“Allow Me’ came about cos at the time, I felt like a lot of people were always being so personal, asking me questions and getting into my business as if they knew me that well, when they really didn’t. Also the feeling of people wondering why I hadn’t released any new music and suggestions of what I should do next or not do, what I should have or shouldn’t have done. I found myself thinking ‘leave me alone, drop me out of your gossip and give me my space’ really a lot of the time lol… So obviously I had to give my bruvas Davinche and JME a call and drop a banger on them!!!”
