It feels strange that it’s only now that acclaimed artist Thom Yorke and maverick producer/musician Mark Pritchard are joined forces to record music together. With Yorke for years now having delved head first into electronica, and Pritchard’s decades long tenure of not only solo material, but his electronic, avant genre mashing work with Africa Hitech (with Steve Spacek), as well as Global Communication (with Tom Middleton), it seems like a collaboration would be a no brainer. As the saying goes “better late than never”, the two will release their debut album Tall Tales on May 9th via Warp. Having already shared their cut ‘Back in the Game’, the two now unveil their new single ‘Gangsters’.
The plunky, experimental track, whilst upbeat, has a chilling haunt to it. And to aid it’s sonic rabbit hole of Wonderland feel, visual artist Jonathan Zawada has crafted an accompanying video to the song. Already know for his surreal visuals, Zwada goes just as strange with scenes of people almost in disarray, behaving in ways that are chaotic.
