Back in 2020 Rock & roll mainstays The Kills released their compilation record Little Bastards. The LP followed a four year hiatus since their 2016 album Ash & Ice. Now make a return in 2023, The Kills have shared not one, but two songs as well as accompanying videos. The two cuts titled ‘New York’ and ‘LA Hex’ are taking from a new 7″ release which is out now on Domino Records.
‘New York’ plays in more of that signature Kills sound of stripped back drums and guitar, however marching band horn stabs seem to operate as the front runner in the production. ‘LA Hex’ is more of a moodier offering, operating with a slower tempo, yet features Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince pairing vocals.
The videos for ‘New York’ and ‘LA Hex’ are directed by Andrew Theodore Balasia. While the visuals for ‘New York’ features The Kills at ringside of a boxing match in which they also feel the punches, ‘LA Hex’ captures the duo among the Los Angeles landscape with people of the city playing in intricate part throughout various clips.
