Upon first listening to Montreal group Thus Owl's new single 'Turn Up The Volumes', you're quickly caught in the clutches of what sounds more like an epic, cinematic journey than simply an alternative recording. From the jump, scattering synths lash around you, as the vocals Erika Angell are accompanied by haunting strings and a thumping bass line. Thus Owls have surely figured out the idea of knowing when to scale back for space and slowly filling the surroundings with sounds that completely keeps you wondering what's about to happen next.
