Having acquired critical praises for their 2021 debut album 'Bright Green Field', Squid have announced the release of their sophomore LP titled 'O Monolith'.
Having released their critically acclaimed LP 'Bright Green Field' back in May of this year, Squid now unveil a remixed EP. The record features a rework of their track 'Global Groove' by none other than industrial pioneer and experimental artist Cosey Fanni Tutti of Throbbing Gristle and Chris & Cosey / Carter Tutti fame.
With their debut album 'Bright Green Field' landing May 7th on Warp Records, Squid have shared the latest and final single 'Pamphlets'. An energetic shot of post-punk, the song kicks with spikey guitar riffs, racing drums and a towering bass line all guided by the sometimes manic, sometimes easy vocal performance of Ollie Judge.
Brighton band Squid have been on the mouths of music critics and fans alike for the past few years. With their 2019 EP 'Town Centre' released to critical praises, the group are now gearing up for the release of their debut album 'Bright Green Field', out May 7th on Warp Records.
Squid have unveiled two covers on Bandcamp with the proceeds going to East Bristol Food Bank as a way to help offset the those who have been financially hit hard due to Covid-19. The first remake is of Robert Wyatt's 1999 cut 'Pigs... (In There)' with the second being a cover version of Steve Reich’s 1972 tune 'Clapping Music'.
Aside from having one of the top EPs of 2019 with 'Town Centre', in 2020 Brighton band Squid released their grooving single 'Sludge'. Refusing to slow down the momentum, they now bring forth their latest track titled 'Broadcaster'. Once again proving that musically they are one of the most diverse bands out today, Squid delve into the realms of psychedelic and synthwave, as a sequenced synth line lay atop spacey layers. There is also an element of drone incorporated into the production which flows without drums. Another killer offering, the track is taken from their 'Sludge/Broadcaster' pack, which will also land on vinyl via Warp Records on June 26th.
Over at ColoRising, we love the sounds of post-punk and new wave. We especially love when a band gets these styles spot-on. Squid's latest single 'The Cleaner' is a perfect blend of post-punk, punk funk and new wave that is joyous nod at late 70s - early 80s sounds by acts such as Talking Heads and Delta 5.
