Melbourne band Batz …
Melbourne band Batz are good...intensely good. With a sound that stirs together indie, surf and punk, just to name a few, they are a representation of everything that is utterly great about rock.
Consisting of Christina Aubry, Joshua Aubry, Dali Platt, Jim Stirton and Jakob Kagan, the band shared a batch of tunes throughout 2015 including the lively garage/punk cut 'Take It', 'Follow Me' and the lustrous surf rock-fused song 'Sid & Nancy'. Batz returned in 2016 with the late night rocker ‘3 AM Pony’, which can be considered the soundtrack of the dreg. Even though the song may spring visuals of drunken staggering, hedonistic excursions and grimy nocturnal adventures, Batz managed to make the song sound uber sexy and intriguing.
UK trio Dream Wife is a band who you need to get familiar with. Blending punk and what they dub as 'poolside pop', their latest EP 'DREAM WIFE EP01' is definitely one of our faves at the moment. One of the highlight songs on the record is the up-cheering track 'Hey Heartbreaker', which Dream Wife have released a video for. Directed by Sam Boullier and Eleanor Hardwick, there are clips of the band all sitting on a bed whilst eating pasta and watching themselves on an old CRT monitor. They also scenes of them running in the streets and releasing heart balloons into the air. Hey, it works for us. 'DREAM WIFE EP01' is out on Cannibal Hymns.
Dream Wife are just as punk as they are pop. In fact, they almost boast …

A few weeks back L.A. punk band Bleached gave a taste of their rocking track 'Wednesday Night Melody'. Now the trio unleash their latest single 'Sour Candy', taken from their forthcoming LP 'Welcome The Worms' out April 1st. Incorporating an 80s sound, the bright track plays like a backdrop to a hot day under the California sun. If anything, it makes you want to do exactly what the lyrics suggest and basically just kill time, letting life pass you by. 'Welcome The Worms' will get released via the Dead Oceans label. Have a listen.
Singer, musician and composer Sofia Härdig is considered to be one of the leading acts coming out of Sweden with a sound organic and raw, explosively bursting out of the seams with energy. No stranger to the music industry, Härdig has worked with the likes of Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon and Julia Crafitz of Pussy Galore, not to mention Grammy Award winning group The Hellacopters and more. In a sense the Swedish artist reflects the very idea of what a true rock star looks, feels and sounds like. Whilst her native country has maintained a tradition of pumping out pop acts, Härdig's music is experimental, racing, unafraid and unapologetic. Her visuals are performance art, something that was a staple in New York's East Village punk and new wave scene or West Berlin in the 70s and 80s.

L.A. punk band Bleached bring forth their new video 'Wednesday Night Melody'. Directed by Gil Kenan, members of the band are trying to contact front vocalist Jennifer Calvin only to go to her home and find her dead. To add insult to injury, they also have a performance later that night. Of course they do what any respective band would do, which is put makeup on her and tape and rope her hands to play the gig. The good news is, the crowd loves the show. 'Wednesday Night Melody' is taken from the forthcoming Bleached album 'Welcome The Worms', out April 1st via Dead Oceans. Check it out.
