Brighton band White Room first stepped into the scene with their psych/punk/alternative cut 'You'll See', the lead-off bit to their debut EP 'Fizzy Liquid'. Since then, the group have gone on to release more shoegaze oriented tunes that have been no less stellar. Returning with their new double AA side record which includes the song 'Stole The I.V', White Room have shared their second some from the release entitled 'Take Me Away'. The wind soaring track is sprinkled with bits of 90s alternative with a twist of modern psychedelic. White Room is surely a band who should be on your radar. Have a listen.
California's Art Fenyman makes a worldly splash with his debut single 'Feeling Good About Feeling Good'. Definitely appropriately titled, the track is a culture meshing of krautrock, Highlife, psych and loads more. Literally feeling like you've stepped into a carnival of musical enlightenment, the song is taken from Fenyman's debut LP 'Blast Off Through The Wicker', out July 14th via Western Vinyl. The Physics House Band are creating some of the most interesting music out at the moment. Having previously shared their mind-blowing single 'Calypso', the trio have now brought forth the video to the cut. Combining clips of various vibrant images mixed with a live session, the song itself is taken from The Physics House Band's upcoming mini-album 'Mercury Fountain', out the 21st of April via Small Pond Records.
If we are to discuss the music of South London native Hector Plimmer, it is best to stay away from the idea of genre. Sure one could possibly sort out various elements in terms of the type of music he creates, but to even dwell that far into dissection is almost to miss the beauty and craftsmanship of his art. If a description just had to be placed on his new LP 'Sunshine', possibly sonic voodoo could come close. Perhaps dream state music is appropriate. No matter what description one chooses to attribute to Plimmer's sound, one thing is certain, 'Sunshine' is truly a gorgeous ray of light, lifting and point blank beautiful.
San Francisco band Silent Pictures have released their new album 'Let it Begin'. Stirring together psych, shoe gaze and garage, the 12-song LP is raw in delivery and spunky in instrumentation. Whilst the beauty of the album does explode through its gritty sonics, there is also flex and stretching moments that comes from the experience of playing for many years. In a way, Silent Pictures are letting loose with ease, as tracks effortlessly shift from raging guitar shredding and distortion on tunes like 'Time Has Broken' to delicate melodies on songs such as 'Far From Reach'. 'Let it Begin' is rock & roll uncut, unfiltered and utterly addicting. You can preview the album below.
If Northern California-based band Silent Pictures' track 'Twisted Smiles' has an air of 90s alternative rock nostalgia, it's probably because that was the time that Alexander Mann wrote the song. This is actually part of the magic of the song which fuses alt with a psych-garage overtone, coupled with traces of grunge. Although 'Twisted Smiles' harks back to a sound that was prominent a couple decades back, it couldn't have come out at a better time. The track is featured on Silent Pictures' forthcoming album 'Let It Begin' which lands July 15th.
NYC band High Waisted is probably having more fun than you...fact. With a sound that blends surf, pop and garage rock, the foursome is everything that one would dream a rock and roll band to be. Releasing their album 'On Ludlow' in March of this year, the group have astonished fans and critics alike, racking up praises in various publications including NME, Nylon, Vice's Noisey and more. The truth is, whilst there are the visuals which depict a bold wildness, High Waisted are a band that know music, and know it incredibly well. With Jessica Louise Dye delivering masterfully controlling vocals with entertaining and at times edgy content, the band's sound is stylistically lustrous, gripping the attention of the listener from beginning to end. In terms of live shows, the bring energy to the umpteenth degree, which is why they are presently one of the bands that is on everyone's radar.
