Let's be honest, most Christmas songs suck. Aside from being all-out absurd, once the 26th of December lands, that song becomes null and void quick fast and in a hurry. However, there are some exceptions to the rules, ie Kissing Party's 'Warren City Christmas'. Dubbed what they call 'slop pop', the added elements of garage, post-punk and dream pop makes it highly easy to appreciate. The band has shared the official video for the track which finds them performing the song on stage at a pub.
London singer, DJ and producer ELKKA makes her debut with the track 'Try', taken from the forthcoming 'Her' EP. Effortlessly bridging an old school 90s rave sound with garage and pop, the song is co-produced with Pop Morrison. If you're not tempted to want to jump and dance, then we're sure you're probably not truly alive! 'Try' is out via Femme Culture.
London artist Anna Straker has released her debut EP 'Serious' following a wave of praise and support over the past year by the likes of Huw Stephens and loads more. Consisting of four tracks, musically Straker weaves between pop, soulful electronica, r&b and more. The record includes her tracks 'Late Night Swimming' as well as her latest single 'Desert Floor'. With a powerful voice backed by fearless production, it's extremely easy to understand why she has been religiously championed by the press and fans alike.
Having launched their imprint Black Echo Records, London duo Kalahara are set to also drop their debut EP 'Wildfire' via the label. The moody and emotive bit is powered by UKG drum programming, a subtle bass line and the gorgeous vocals of singer Lydia Kaye. Included in the EP package are remixes courtesy of production duo Howson’s Groove, Jabru of Paradise Club, as well as the team of Landings. You can preview the original version of 'Wildfire' below.

San Francisco band Silent Pictures have released their new album 'Let it Begin'. Stirring together psych, shoe gaze and garage, the 12-song LP is raw in delivery and spunky in instrumentation. Whilst the beauty of the album does explode through its gritty sonics, there is also flex and stretching moments that comes from the experience of playing for many years. In a way, Silent Pictures are letting loose with ease, as tracks effortlessly shift from raging guitar shredding and distortion on tunes like 'Time Has Broken' to delicate melodies on songs such as 'Far From Reach'. 'Let it Begin' is rock & roll uncut, unfiltered and utterly addicting. You can preview the album below.
It's not everyday that a legend in music does a version of your original track. In the case of Stockholm's Marlene, Giorgio Moroder covered her song ' I Do This For You', which was placed on his current LP 'Déjà Vu'.
Marlene now returns with a Summer bubbler entitled 'All I Want'. The feel-good cut shines with a warm emission of electronic pop, light r&b and even a notch of UK garage. You can expect to hear the track all throughout the season!
