PREP have announced the release of their debut self-titled album, out October 30th on Bright Antenna Records. To coincide with the news, the band have also shared their new single '‘On and On’. With the track's origins being that more of a romantic handover, the glistening synthpop meets funk cut actually changed gears with the content being about someone who's made their exit from the relationship.
Berlin-based Wayne Snow and Parisian producer Darius come together yet again for another collaboration. Their latest song is a disco-driven track titled 'Equilibrium'. In Darius fashion, the production glistens with sharp, spacey synths and thumping, 4x4 kicks. Wayne Snow delivers hands in the air vocals, giving the single that extra dose of soul.
Essex trio Rayowa have released their new EP 'Keepin' Me Under'. Out via Mahogany Recordings, the four-track record revisits the sounds of 70s glam disco, previously laid down by giants such as Nile Rodgers. Splashed with grand vocals and even horn sections, the EP provides that nostalgic feeling for those who frequented clubs like New York City's Studio 54 during the genre's golden era. Rayowa may not have been born during those early periods when funk and disco dominated that dance floors but they've definitely done their homework. Stream 'Keepin' Me Under' below.
Rock legend Lenny Kravitz unveils the video for his single 'Ride', which is taken from his 2018 LP 'Raise Vibration'. Bermuda-born model Aliana King also stars in the vid. Lenny and Aliana cruise around the streets of Paris enjoying a French cafe, the museum and just generally the trekking around the beautiful city.
Canadian pop star Kiesza makes her return with the upbeat track 'Crave'. The song follows her previous single 'All Of The Feelings'. For this handing, Kiesza fires off with a high-spirited pop piece that commands the body to get up and dance. Produced by Electric, the cut blends electropop with funk stirred with an 80s sensibility. The tune is taken from her forthcoming second album, scheduled to land this summer.
Back in 2019, Bristol/London band Tungz dropped their heavily supported EP 'Okay'. Championed by presenters such as Huw Stephens and Jamz Supernova just to name a few, the record was packed with infectious pop and synth-funk that was insanely lush in production. Tungz have now unveiled their new single 'Can't We Just Be Friends Again'.
Purple Disco Machine makes his return with his silky single 'In My Arms'. Crafting together a perfect blend of disco and soulful house, the production is stacked with gorgeous piano lines, Jocelyn Brown sampled vocals and a thick, funk-driven bass line that is utterly grooving. The track is a massive record, finding Purple Disco Machine setting off 2020 in a big way.
Releasing his album 'Hyperspace' back in November of 2019, Beck now enlists St. Vincent to rework his song 'Uneventful Days', which is featured on the LP. For this remix, St. Vincent gives the track a spaced-out, funk makeover. Using wobbly synths as the meat of the production, broken drum patterns and occasional guitar play are also added in the mix.
Gothenburg artist sir Was has shared the video to his latest single 'The Sun Will Shine', which is taken from his upcoming LP 'Holding On To A Dream', out September 20th. Directed by Damien Priest and sir Was himself, the Swedish singer finds himself sitting in a car with men wearing lucha libre masks. What happens next is, well, sir Was ends up performing the track whilst standing on the roof of the car with the other men frantically dancing around the vehicle. Now mind you, the song is so grooving that you can hardly blame them. We would dance around the car as well. Have a look.
London's Kojey Radical will release his new EP 'Cashmere Tears' on September 13th. For anyone who has followed his career from the beginning until now, you can assume that there will be a high level of artistry and musicality to the project.
