It was a rough ride initially for Hedi Slimane taking on the job as creative director for Celine. Accused of still creating work that resembled his past Saint Laurent pieces, for the men's summer 2020 collection, Slimane draws inspiration from the 70s with classic tailored suits and tuxedos. For the campaign video, Hedi heads to the French Riviera, shooting black and white stills of the models and mixing the pics with landscapes, statues and more. Since taking over as creative director for Celine, Hedi Slimane has ruffled a number of feathers from fans of the brand and critics alike. One of the biggest critiques is that Slimane has brought many of the same aesthetics from Saint Laurent over to Celine, eliminating some of the magic that Phoebe Philo created beforehand.
