Bristol producer Pinch dominated during the glory days of dubstep. Whilst even talking about the genre feels like discussing something that happened 50 years ago, Pinch was never one to be completely pigeon-holed to one distinct sound, which has carried him throughout many lanes of electronica. He now delivers a bass-rattling rework of the Roots Manuva song 'Don’t Breathe Out'. Slightly obscure in production but still rave-rocking ready, the remix is taken from Roots Manuva's 'Bleeds (Deluxe Version)', out August 19th on Big Dada. Check it out.
It's almost unfair to only credit Roots Manuva as the emcee who help to establish global recognition of UK Hip-Hop. Not only has he surpassed titles of specific genres, his creative contribution to music in itself is immense. Releasing his ninth album 'Bleeds' back in October of 2015, Roots Manuva now unveils the video for one of the highlight songs on the LP, 'Crying'. Directed by Helmi, people run and hide with fear as they spot Roots taking a simple stroll from a council estate to the market and back. The video is actually quite hilarious, especially considering that one kid even hides in a trash bin. You have to love Roots Manuva! Check it out.
Roots Manuva has to be saluted as a true trailblazer of the UK Hip-Hop scene. Always one to experiment with sound, is honesty in his content mixed with at times, a cheekiness of presentation has helped to define him as a true innovator of British music.
