While known for his work as the vocalist for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Paul Rutherford released the seminal acid house record “Get Real” in 1988 on the 4th & Broadway label. Multiple versions of the song were pressed including the ‘Happy House’, ‘Hardcore’ (on the promo 12″) and the ‘Sinister’ mix.
In 2013, “Get Real” has now been re-released with new remixes by none other than Darren Emerson, Pete Gooding and Just Be. Each producer has given the track a unique update, expanding the original acid feel to now an incorporated additive of tech and deep house. The new versions have received a large amount of support from heavyweights such as Laurent Garnier, Tensnake, Nick Warren and Josh Wink, just to name a few. Just as the original release of “Get Real” was an exciting listen, the new remixes have given new life to a classic single.
Paul Rutherford’s “Get Real Remixes” is out now on Seldaor Recordings.
