LewisSpybey is the collaboration project of Edward Graham Lewis of Wire and Mark Spybey of Zoviet France, and Dead Voices on Air. The pair are scheduled to release their debut LP LEWISPYBEY on November 8th via the UPP Records imprint. The first taste of what to expect is presented with their latest track dubbed ‘Castle Neptune’.
Both Lewis and Spybey’s post-punk, post-industrial, experimental backgrounds are on full display with ‘Castle Neptune’. Ranging over 7 minutes long, the track is a weighty, almost rave meets dark electronica meets noise rock blend that is powered by these pounding, beefy synth bass notes, with effects and tweaks going mental in the background. At one point in the song the music completely shifts to this sound designed piece that feels like something out of a big motion picture. While ‘Castle Neptune’ surely breaks any stereotype of one specific genre, it is quite the fantastic offering that leaves you wondering what they have in store for the upcoming full-length.
