Hip-Hop music as we know it would not be the same without the legacy of Def Jam Records founded in 1983 by business mogul Russell Simmons and producer Rick Rubin. In a four part series by Noisey celebrating 30 years of Def Jam, Elliot Wilson talks to the two men who started the label that boasts an alumni of acts such as LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Jay Z, EPMD, Method Man, Redman and the list goes on.
