Over the past six years, Helsinki duo Femme En Fourrure have undergone a series of sound transformations ranging from deep, nocturnal house music stuffed with sexually charged lyrics by early vocalist Bianca to the dark, sometimes minimal and experimental electronica of FEF’s debut LP 36-26-36, which featured current singer Sandra Tervonen. Their post album single ‘The Beach’ further expanded on their hyper-sensual soundtrack to hedonism, yet just when we were getting comfortable with Femme En Fourrure’s signature style, they have yet again changed courses.
The Smell EP is Femme En Fourrure’s latest offering which finds the pair dipping into bouncy drum programming, running hi hats and sharp synths that are commonplace in trap production. Whilst there are still dark undertones remaining, FEF seem to be pushing more toward the mainstream than the underbelly of the underground. Femme En Fourrure’s Smell is out on Cocoa Music.
