With their forthcoming LP ’21 Bum Salute’ landing November 6th on City Slang, Australian duo Party Dozen have returned with their final single dubbed Full Powers. The song follows their previous track ‘Euro Stomper’, which was released last month.
‘Full Powers’ is a heavy duty post-punk meets wild art rock cut that is an absolute steamroller. The pulsing, rumbling bass line throughout the cut is like a sonic earthquake whilst chaotic saxophone play and filtered vocals by singer Kirsty Tickle adds a no-wave vibe. Of course you can expect social messaging in the song, with the emphasis being about the excursiveness of power. This is an incredible way to round out the single run before the album release.
Touching on ‘Full Powers’, Party Dozen stated:
“There’s ‘Full Powers’ good and there’s ‘Full Powers’ bad. The good is when you’re personally becoming too powerful, an angel pisses on you, everything is going very well and suddenly you’re gliding down the street like King Swinging Dick.
The bad is when one side has all the power and more is not enough. Powerlust, greedmongering, gluttonous fiends. This track switches between the two. It has a really strong, confident feel that gets a little uneasy as the track progresses.”
