Mankoora’s latest record “El Loco” is so raw with the incorporated elements of Salsa, Funk, Boogaloo and Breakbeat that it could be the modern soundtrack of Nuyorica. The music is fast, energetic and dance floor friendly. “El Loco” drives like a car at 100 miles per hour with pounding drums, funky Hammond Organ playing and fierce horns that sounds like Ismael Rivera’s band was in the studio. Mankoora doesn’t slow down a bit with the b-side “Boogaloo Tormenta”. The rhythms force you to sweat it out with pleasure as the song’s Latin Jazz root gets sprinkled with a bit of tribal ecstasy. “El Loco/”Boogaloo Tormenta” is the perfect way to end a summer and warm you up for the winter.
