I wrote it after reading a poem called ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ which, at least on some level, is about a meeting with God where you’re freed to reach a kind of ultimate happiness. ‘Night Soul’ shares that ideal of being freed from something – your mind or whatever’s pulling you down – so you can unlock the good stuff.”
