London-based singer Taura Lamb has revealed her latest single ‘straighten my curls’. The track is taken from her latest EP Sunny, which is currently out now.
A fun and upbeat blend of pop and r&b that makes you want to instantly dance, the metaphorical track is about being in a space of natural comfortability, especially in a relationship, allowing one to be who she or he truly is.
Regarding the single, Taura Lamb said:
“My fiancé HATES when I straighten my curls. hat tiny detail ended up sparking the whole concept. The song’s not literally about hair (I promise), but it became this fun, kinda subtle way of saying ‘you love me as I am’ without it being too on-the-nose. I recently came across the whole ‘curly hair theory’ – the idea that when you’re truly comfortable and in love, you stop changing little things about yourself and just show up as your full, natural self. I used to straighten my hair constantly, and now I’m a full-blown curly girl. It seems silly, but it’s those little shifts that feel huge over time. As soon as we wrote it I was obsessed straight away – it had this infectious, joyful energy, and I knew it had to be the closer. straighten my curls felt like the perfect way to round off Sunny, and the whole Moods journey. It’s a celebration of love that sneaks up on you in the most unexpected ways.”
