Swedish singer Hanna Ögonsten shares her first track of 2024 titled ‘Medicine’. The song follows her EP have you seen my mind cause I’ve lost it, which was released back in April of 2023.
Co-produced by Carl Goldkuhl, David Kjellstrand, and Paw Lagermann, sonically ‘Medicine’ is an enticing melding of DIY pop and drum & bass that is highly lifting. The topic of the song deals with the idea of obsession and the constant need for a person’s love, not to mention the pitfalls of it. The summertime feel of the tune is a nice balance to the content which fosters the best of both worlds, musically and heartfelt words. Stream ‘Medicine’ below.
Regarding the song, Hanna Ögonsten mentionend:
“Growing up, most of us have tried to distract ourselves, simply to escape from the unpleasant parts of life like parents fighting, death in the family and other haunting nightmares. I used music to overcome these situations by writing a lyric or melody, creating a comforting story in my head,” Hanna Ögonsten says and continues: “’Medicine’ is about using these same distractions as a lifeline to cover up the danger and risk of obsessing with someone. If you crave the idea of someone’s love like a medicine, the chances of getting hurt are equally painful.”
