Janelle Monáe switches into one of her many characters in her new video “Dance Apocalyptic”. Directed by Wendy Morgan, the clip takes place on the set of a television show which could have been set in the 50s or 60s with the exception of the modern crowd and Janelle Monáe’s hair wildly let down. Now here is where things begin to get weird. There are people in the crowd with bird cages on their heads, a breaking news clip, in which Janelle Monáe plays the reporter and in walks a zomby. Yes this does sound strange but if you read the “Dance Apocalyptic Emotion Picture Treatment” by Chuck Lightning, you’ll understand that this is an excerpt from his short film.
